Our Community Power Lab creates space for large groups of residents to come together, learn, and connect—often uncovering facts they never knew about displacement, inequality, equity, and the forces shaping their neighborhoods, whether from business sectors or beyond.

These trainings do more than share information. They activate the conversations our communities need to have—and turn awareness into action.

Here's what nobody tells you about pushing for equity: a lot of powerful people don't want to have the conversation at all.

And that resistance? It's usually dressed up as "fairness."

Because "equality" sounds good — give everyone the same apple, the same resource, the same shot at prosperity, But equality without context isn't justice. It's a photo op.

Equity asks the harder question: where did each person start?

If one person hasn't eaten in two days and another ate an hour ago, handing them both the same apple isn't fair — it ignores the reality that they're standing in completely different places. Real equity means meeting people where they are and giving them what they actually need to reach the finish line.

That's the work. And the discomfort some folks feel about it? That's exactly why it matters.
