During a COHAT, your veterinarian evaluates your pet’s entire oral cavity, cleans above and below the gumline, and takes dental radiographs (X-rays) to identify problems that can’t be seen during a visual exam alone.
In fact, up to 60% of a tooth lies below the gumline, meaning painful conditions such as tooth root abscesses, bone loss, resorptive lesions, and fractured teeth can go undetected without dental radiographs.
