When kittens are sick, getting enough calories becomes part of their treatment. Unlike adult cats, they can't afford to lose weight—they should be gaining weight every day (around 10–15 grams daily is a good target for young growing kittens). If they stop gaining or start losing, it's a sign they may need extra support.
So yes... sometimes the menu includes six different entrées because apparently one flavor is beneath them. 🤦♀️

Mambo the tabby runs a strict non-nonsense policy...
We've all heard those words before.
But suffering is not nature. And dead kittens are not something we should accept as normal.
Seraphine's mother was still a kitten when she had her first litter. Seraphine and Sable were the only survivors. Their mother is gone.
Before she was even a year old, Seraphine had her second litter. Samson is the only survivor. Sable had two litters in her short life, and none of her kittens survived.
Three generations. Countless lives lost.
This wasn't inevitable. It was preventable. There are low-cost clinics. There are rescues. There are people willing to help. We need to do better.
The cycle ends here for this little family. They are finally safe, spayed and neutered and cared for as they have always deserved. Despite everything they've endured, they still trust people. Now they deserve a family that will never fail them again.
They never had a choice.
We do.
Spay. Neuter. Save lives.

Sunday night rescue. 🐾
An incredible group of people refused to ignore a desperate cry for help. The kitten was stuck in the drain for 3 days!!! After two hours, they finally got this tiny kitten to safety.
He's on his way to the ER now with what appears to be a broken leg. If you'd like to help put him back together, any contribution toward his medical care means the world. ❤️

Update on little Lavista:
If you missed our previous post, Lavista has a dislocated ankle and an infection in the joint. She just had a follow-up vet visit to check on her progress.
Lavista has been a champ at cooperating with the many vets visits and taking her meds! What she doesn’t like so much is getting her leg iced. She gives some serious side eye when she sees it coming 😹
Lavista is definitely improving - the swelling has gone down a lot, she is starting to put weight on the leg, and she is eating and playing!
But she’s not out of the woods yet. She has another week of antibiotics to try to get the infection under control before we have to consider additional interventions.
All of her care is costly. We posted a fundraiser for her a couple of days ago and would greatly appreciate any additional support to help take care of this little girl!

🦠 CALICIVIRUS: Another tiny kitten enemy
This is Miya's tongue today. 💔
Those raw, painful sores are caused by feline calicivirus, a highly contagious virus that commonly affects kittens. Mouth ulcers can make every bite of food and every sip of water incredibly painful, which is why affected kittens often stop eating and can become dehydrated.
This is also why the FVRCP vaccine is considered a core vaccine for every kitten.
Calicivirus can cause severe illness, especially in young, unvaccinated kittens, and in some cases can even be life-threatening. Miya has been vaccinated, but kittens need a series of boosters because maternal antibodies can interfere with the immune response while they're still young. The vaccine can't always prevent infection, especially since there are many different strains of calicivirus, but it plays a critical role in reducing the severity of the disease.
Thankfully, Miya's case has been limited to painful tongue ulcers, which are already improving tremendously with pain management and supportive care. You'd never guess she has a sore little tongue by the way she's playing, exploring, and acting like she doesn't have a care in the world.
She was also the sweetest, bravest little patient at the vet today. ❤️

This pretty lady is Brienne 🧡 She was found as a stray with 1 kitten. She was such a good Mommy, she even took on another orphaned kitten to raise. But those will be her last kittens ever!
Thanks to sponsorship from Fix Georgia Pets Brienne was spayed at Paw Project of Georgia, Inc. and is doing great! She’s such a happy-go-lucky girl she doesn’t even to seem to mind her cone 📡

This sweet tiny tabico girl is Lavista. Despite her size, she’s a fighter! She was born to a feral mom outside, surviving the elements, and now Lavista has another challenge - a severe leg injury.
She has a badly dislocated ankle which has resulted in an infection in the joint. She had intense swelling and was screaming in pain. We took her to the emergency vet this weekend, as well as a regular vet follow-up. We have her on a regiment antibiotics and pain meds to make her comfortable.
Lavista is doing better and back to purring and making biscuits! She still has a long way to go in her recovery but we are sure she is going to live a long and healthy life once her leg heals.
Unfortunately medical emergencies like this are extremely expensive and drain our funds as a small non-profit. We are asking for help to cover some of Lavista’s vet expenses. If you are able, please donate to help this little girl 🩷 Thank you so much!
