On an educational note, please always provide bedding in your cat’s carrier, a favorite toy, a shirt that smells like you, something! And, ideally, have something to cover the carrier like a beach towel. It doesn’t have to be a fancy matching ensemble like you see here but it is important to be able to shelter them from stressful experiences.

For most cats you need to make the sound far away from where they are, click and treat and then gradually bring the noise within closer proximity to them.
A can of compressed air used for cleaning out your computer keyboard works well for this purpose.
As your cat acclimates to the noise, bring it closer and closer. Since our cats are used to training and doing a variety of new things, Tonka is less fearful and more curious and engaged. It truly helps to train them to do a myriad of behaviors when they are young so that when these types of issues come up they are more agreeable to training and learning.
Admittedly, despite how well he is doing with all of it he still does not want to hold his muzzle inside the mask and allows my hand on the back of his head to stabilize him and hold for a few seconds. That’s what we need to work on most.
