Our 5th edition of “Creative Canvas”, where we highlight our studio’s creative talent and inspiration. From Interior Designer & Associate, Caroline Walker, “Being a crazy dog lady is core to my identity. From the day we brought home our first family dog, I vowed never to go dogless again—and one spaniel, five golden retrievers, and two labradors later, I’ve stayed true to my word, thanks to my fellow dog-loving family and my role as a volunteer puppy raiser with the Guide Dog Foundation.
 
Equally central to who I am, is my love of art, illustration, and all things creative—a passion that led me to a career in interior design at ai3. Eventually my creative and canine worlds collided, as I began illustrating my dogs—first as gifts and personal mementos, then as something more. As a puppy raiser for GDF, these drawings became a cathartic ritual, a way to honor each dog I raise. I spend their first ~18 months loving, guiding, and preparing each pup—then, with equal parts pride and heartbreak, I say goodbye and send them on to become service dogs for visually impaired individuals and disabled veterans. These illustrations help me celebrate our time together and preserve a piece of each dog long after they graduate.
 
At ai3, my two greatest passions have been encouraged to flourish—from welcoming the service dogs I’ve raised into the ai3 family, to championing my illustrative work during my sabbaticals. The way these passions now coexist fills my cup in a way that my younger self would be proud of, and I’m beyond grateful to work with people who celebrate them so wholeheartedly.”
