Man freed after spending 16 years in prison for Douglas robbery 05/19/2026

Congratulations to Brandon Pugh on his freedom, and to his attorneys for their relentless work! This is what responsibility looks like: when prosecutors are presented with evidence of a wrongful conviction and choose to do the right thing. Georgia Innocence Project is honored to have played a small role by providing a letter of support, laying out the wrongful conviction factors present in Mr. Pugh's case, and the resulting reasons to doubt the validity of his conviction.

Man freed after spending 16 years in prison for Douglas robbery A wrongfully convicted man is free after Douglas County District Attorney Dahlia Racine secured the total exoneration of Brandon Pugh, who spent 16 years in prison for an armed bank robbery he did not commit.
