The “Benchmark” bench. Since posting the acoustic performance in Mexico and recounting the story of restoring the titular bench for my (KV’s) wife a few inquiring minds have asked to see the result of my (dare I say..) craftsmanship. VOILA, feast your eyes.
I don’t consider myself a woodworker by any stretch, however this was a very satisfying project to accomplish and my wife and daughter seem to enjoy it. Happy to hear quite a few people other than myself hold Benchmark as a favorite from Eternal Youth. While many of the other songs speak in generalities concerning my subject matter and experiences, this one is detail-rich with specifics. The album is bookended with love songs for my wife and this one in particular means a great deal to us. Thank you to all the real ones who connected with this personal favorite deep cut, we appreciate you.

One of my (KV) favorite songs from Eternal Youth. It’s about building a bench for my wife from old metal legs found in our backyard. I think both the song and the bench turned out very nice.
