Post race recap

Yesterday’s TREC race at Badlands Off-Road Park was a blast and we had a couple surprises too! Sophia Taylor competed for the first time ever in an off-road race in our Pro Truck Open (Unlimited) Class and did awesome! We also had a surprise guest, all the way from the California desert; Mr. Dave Cole himself!

The course was a little shorter than normal and according to OnX Off-Road ended up at 4.5 miles. We added a woods section, ran through the prairie field the opposite direction from what we normally do and cut out the long straights around the farm field. Even though the rain held off until after the race, there was no shortage of MUD. In typical Badlands fashion, there was a unique mixture of sand, dirt, broken oil cooler lines, dust, trees, hills, clogged fuel filters, mud and bumpers falling off. But this is what makes it all FUN right?

A big thank you goes out to Stan, Brandon and the whole crew at Branik Motorsports for making the trophies for our 2025 season! As usual, they look awesome!

Two days until race day!

Make sure you drop your name, race number and class in either this thread or the previous one if you are coming!

Registration cut off is 3 pm on Saturday.

Here are a few updates and reminders.

- Calling for a little rain tomorrow! Just enough to keep the dust down!
- Course will be ready tomorrow, End of day.
- I can share a GPX file that can be uploaded to your GPS unit Friday night. (Don’t ask ne how to upload it to your unit, I’m lucky to be smart enough to export it from mine!🤣🤣🤣)
- Pits are in the normal area indicated on the image in this post.
- Course overview is also included in this post.
- Course is marked with BLUE arrows with WHITE background.
- Racers and pit crew will need To sign in at the Badlands Pro Shop upon arrival.
- Driver meeting at the starting line at 6 pm sharp! Be ready To race!
- Green flag drops at 6:30.
- Race is 1.5 hours plus a lap.

The stop and go check point will be strictly enforced!

We are using the old timing system for this race.

We have newly obtained spy photos from INSIDE the Branik Motorsports world headquarters! The team is hard at work putting the finishing touches on the trophies for next weeks TREC race!

While you are strategizing on the best way to bring home some of this super cool hardware, take a look at the preliminary info below about next weekend, Sat May 17.

Where - Badlands Off-Road Park / North end of Park

When - Race start time is appx 6:30 Driver meeting is 6:00. Be ready to race immediately following drivers meeting.

Duration is 1.5 hours plus one lap (stays light until about 9pm)

Pit location will be in the lower field (same as last year)

Please drop your name, class and race number below if you are planning on attending.

We will not be having a youth race.

Check in and pay entry fee at the Badlands Pro Shop.

We need to have your name, class and race number BEFORE 3 pm on Saturday of the race or we will not be able to get you into the timing system! Even if you think you MIGHT come, drop your info below. I would rather have you in the timing system and you not show up, then show up and not be in the timing system.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Hey everyone! We were hoping to kick off the TREC 2025 series next weekend but unfortunately, Mother nature has put half of our track under water! The entire prairie field west is flooded, including the start / finish line. The pit area is so muddy, it can't be used.

In addition, we have had a number of people who have stated they are unable to make it due to being the night before Easter.

* * * * These factors have led us to the difficult decision to cancel the April 19th TREC race. * * * *

A rescheduled race date will be announced soon.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Also, if anyone is interested, we are thinking about going kayaking...
