On June 27, 2026, at approximately 5:23 p.m., our agency, along with Black Diamond Police Department, and the King County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded to the Lake Sawyer boat launch after receiving reports of a truck and boat trailer submerged in the lake.
When crews arrived, the unoccupied vehicle was completely underwater. Working together, responders successfully recovered both the truck and trailer from the lake. No serious injuries were reported.
Here are some safety tips from the U.S. Coast Guard, Discover Boating and/or the America's Boating Club:
• Park, then set the parking brake.
• Raise boat motor before moving.
• Prep boat in the staging area, not on the ramp.
• Check your trailer connection.
• Slow down, avoid distractions.
A few extra seconds can help prevent injuries, property damage, and costly recoveries.
