A clergyperson who supports our work is currently being discriminated against and abused by their apartment complex. Venterra Realty has made allowances for Federal Employees who are furloughed, but are not helping those on Social Security and Disability who are not being paid the money they paid into the system. The office managers who they spoke to in Texas told them it was not important and they did not care. This is people's lives. On top of that Venterra has opted to up their rent $600 a month starting in August. Those who are on fixed incomes will now have to live on the streets as housing assistance in the Houston/Harris County and surrounding areas have as much as 40 year waiting list for assistance. This is unconscionable and we as people of faith must stand up against this kind of exploitation. Please share this far and wide and help stop these abuses. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ontario needs to investigate these abusive practices by a Canadian company taking advantage of United States citizens who are already suffering.
