Bitter cold headed our way!!!

Heads up, Augusta ❄️

The National Weather Service is forecasting extreme cold conditions that may impact Augusta-Richmond County beginning Sunday through Tuesday, with the potential for prolonged cold temperatures through the rest of the week.

An arctic air mass and cold front are expected to move through the area, bringing gusty winds and dangerously low temperatures. Overnight and early morning lows could drop into the low teens to around 20°F, increasing risks for vulnerable neighbors, homes, and infrastructure.

Here are a few ways to prepare now:
• Protect pipes by insulating exposed lines and allowing faucets to drip
• Use space heaters safely and keep them at least three feet away from flammable materials
• Check in on elderly neighbors, children, and anyone without reliable heat
• Use extra caution on the roads, especially bridges and overpasses that may freeze
