Driving a truck comes with more serious responsibilities. Our drivers are trained to safely maneuver trucks 20 times the size of an average automobile. By sharing the road with trucks and reducing the risk of an accident, automobile drivers should obey the following advice:
✅ Avoid the truck’s blind spots. If possible, keep a one-lane distance on the driver’s side and a two-lane distance on the passenger side.
✅ Trucks may need more than one lane to make a wide turn. So don’t pass a truck when the driver is turning a corner.
✅ Avoid making sudden turns or stops near a truck.
✅ Keep a distance. Vehicles following too closely may not have enough time to brake and avoid a collision.

Mountain driving for truck drivers can be intimidating, especially the first time. But if you follow some basic safety rules, you can quickly gain confidence on mountain routes.
✅ Pay close attention to your grade. The grade signs will give you an idea of what speed you should maintain while climbing or descending.
✅ ‘Slow and steady wins the race.’ Never drive too quickly; always creep down the hill.
✅ Retain traction when descending and ascending a steep grade.
✅ Watch the weather, chain up, and don’t tailgate.

Winter can be challenging even for the most experienced truck driver. So to ensure your and everyone's safety, make sure you winterize your truck to be prepared for any weather situation. Our drivers advise:
✅ To prepare an emergency kit including flashlight, batteries, charging cords, jumper cables, snow shovel, hazard triangles or LED flashers, ice scrapers, chains, and a bag of sand. Also, make sure to pack survival items like water, food, medicine, and warm clothes.
✅ Install new wiper blades at the beginning of the winter season to maximize performance and visibility in the harshest of weather.
✅ Severe temperature changes can dramatically affect fluid levels and air pressures. So be sure to have extra fluids and an air hose.
✅ Put a seal protector over the door and windows to keep them from freezing shut. Make sure to have a defroster for frozen locks.
