Outsiders don’t get it.
They don’t understand why we cry over scoresheets.
Why we cheer louder than anyone else in the arena.
Why a little silver ring that says “Hit Zero” can mean the world.

But cheer parents know.

We know it’s not just about stunts and tumbling.
It’s about bruises, blisters, and sore muscles.
About the hours poured into perfecting a 2:30 routine.
About the trust it takes to throw your body in the air
and the bond it takes to catch someone without hesitation.

It’s about coaches who believe in them.
Teammates who become family.
Kids who learn what it means to fight for something bigger than themselves.

The long drives.
The late nights.
The weekends sacrificed.
All of it is worth it.

Because when the music ends and they hit that last pose,
when the judges hold up a clean routine score,
when the words “Hit Zero” flash across the screen

It feels like magic.
Pure, hard-earned magic.

And unless you’ve lived it,
you’ll never fully understand.

Unless you've swiped your card for registration fees that rival your car payment…
Unless you've watched your child put their heart on a mat only to be told they were “off by .25”…

All Star Cheer isn't for everyone, and that's okay.
It’s expensive. It’s intense. It’s emotional.
But it’s also empowering. It's transformative. It's hers.

So no, she’s not doing “too much.”
She’s not “just flipping around.”
She’s learning discipline, grit, teamwork, and how to shine under pressure.

And when you say,
“I’d never spend that much on cheer,”
I smile.
Because it’s not your bill, your kid, or your journey.
It’s ours.
