Meet Mateo!

Mateo is a Puppy Day School superstar and quite possibly one of the most fun, rambunctious little guys you’ll ever meet. He brings so much energy and personality into every session, and that goofy smile of his? It’s kind of impossible not to love.

Like many puppies, Mateo is still figuring out the world, and that’s not always easy. But he’s been working so hard in his training, showing up ready to learn and making real progress along the way.

We’re incredibly proud of how far he’s come already, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for this sweet, silly guy. Keep it up, Mateo!!

Today we’re saying a fond (read: SAD) farewell to our trainer Izzy, who is “graduating” Every Dog.

He is moving across the country to work with an amazing service dog organization!

We’re excited for his new chapter, but know his loss will be felt here! If you’ve worked with Izzy, send them some love, favorite memories, and well wishes!

This one is SO IMPORTANT to us. “Socialization” only truly happens within a very limited time for puppies, ending at about 12-14 weeks. This time period has huge impacts on how they’ll react to new people, dogs, sounds, and general “new” stuff in the world- for the rest of their lives.

Recently we’ve worked with a number of puppies who were kept isolated until their full vaccination program was completed- and these pups are struggling a lot with fear, anxiety, or reactivity.

The good news is that there are SAFE ways to socialize your puppy! The American Veterinary Society for Animal Behavior (AVSAB) recommends starting puppy classes or other safe socialization one week after the first set of vaccines!! For more info, go to AVSAB.org

Note: we are NOT suggesting that you take your brand new, unvaccinated puppy to the dog park and all around town. Disease risks are very real! But there are lots of safe ways to socialize your puppy.

Behavioral AND physical health both matter, so these tips will help you protect both.

Now announcing our newest group class:

Coyote Basic Manners! This class is a perfect starting point for training with your new coyote. We'll teach important skills like sit, down, jumping tall fences, and yipping loudly to their friends.

Happy April Fools! While we aren't actually offering coyote classes, we're excited to see your other canids (dogs!) soon.

And fun fact: Austin is home to lots of urban coyotes who are an important part of our local ecosystems! To learn more, visit https://www.austintexas.gov/animal-services/coyotes-central-texas
