RTRC Production Assistant
Location: South Austin (1606 W. Stassney Lane)
Hours: 30-40 per week
Reports To: Production Manager

About Us:
Rising Tide Roast Collaborative is a shared coffee roasting space. Our goal is to help aspiring and existing coffee businesses find joy and success in coffee roasting. We believe in knowledge sharing, inclusivity, and making the coffee industry a sustainable option for ourselves, our central Texas community, and producers at origin.

The Position:
As a Rising Tide production assistant, you will work directly with management to support roastery operations. You will be responsible for executing many of the systems and processes which enable the roastery to efficiently accomplish its production goals. It’s not terribly glamorous - you will often go home sweaty, dirty, and tired. On the upside, you’ll definitely get your steps, you’ll get to know a lot of awesome coffee people, and you just might figure out if behind-the-scenes coffee work is your happy place.

ROASTER SCHOOL 201 - INTERMEDIATE WORKSHOP
This 3-hour workshop is suitable for students who have taken Roaster School 101, and/or folks with some roasting experience. We go in-depth into defining and applying the practice of profile roasting. Participants will learn common terminology, best practices, and documentation. After manipulating and recording profiles through hands-on roasting, participants will cup their roasts and discuss how different approaches can impact the sensory experience of a given coffee. This workshop will help roasters understand how to apply roasting theory and alter profile recipes to dial in their desired levels of acidity, sweetness, body, and balance
Participants will get hands-on roasting time on our Mill City 10 kilo and will get to take home a bag of beans that they roasted themselves.

Saturday January 27, 10am-1pm
Lecture, hands-on roasting time, and a group cupping are included.
