Nobel Prize winners are commonly referred to as ‘laureates’ - a throwback to the ancient Greek tradition of crowning the winning sports competitor with a wreath of made of laurel branches. With such theatrics it’s no wonder that laureates get puffed up ideas of themselves. They often feel compelled to speak as an authority on wide-ranging subjects they have not researched and are no more qualified to offer an opinion on than you or I.
