In its heyday, this steel blade called a plowshare, once cut through the top layer of soil to break and turn over the earth.
"Beating swords into plowshares" is a proverb meaning to shift from pursuits of war to pursuits of peace, to literally transform from a weapon of destruction and death to a tool of growth and prosperity.
This plowshare went from cutting soil to holding it, a total shift in purpose that I think suits it quite well!
