As we approach the colder seasons it's important to be aware of some facts surrounding your home's insulation. One of the biggest myths of homeownership is that you can never over-insulate your home, and that's false!

According to the Department of Energy, properly insulating your home can save 10 to 50 percent on a typical heating bill. While insulation is great for a home's heat preservation it is, in fact, possible to over insulate as well! Tightly sealing a home with too many layers of insulation can run the risk of trapping moisture due to warm air not being properly ventilated. Trapped warm air leads to mold growth which can lead to issues such as poor indoor air quality.

New Service Alert: Sewer Lateral Inspections!

You should schedule a sewer lateral inspection at the same time as your home inspection. Few home buyers consider sewer inspections before buying a home. The time to find out if a sewer is faulty or needs replacement is BEFORE buying a home, not after. In many cases, the seller is not even aware of the condition of the sewer line. The only way to know is to perform a sewer lateral inspection.

Here are 7 Signs a Homebuyer May Need a Sewer Lateral Inspection:

1. Large trees near the main sewer line
2. Home is 20 years old or more
3. Dips in the yard can indicate erosion from a broken line
4. Toilets, tubs, and sinks draining slowly
5. Water is pooling in the yard
6. If there are new cleanouts present
7. Recent repairs to the sewer line

What Problems Will This Service Reveal?

Tree root infiltrations - Tree roots seek out water, as they grow, they will find cracks in the line
Broken, cracked, or collapsed pipes - The camera feeds along the pipe itself and will reveal damaged lines
Blockages - Sending things down the pipes like grease, wipes, paints, and dental floss can build up and block the line
Sagging sewer lines - When a section of the sewer pipe begins to sag, waste gets caught in the bellied section - resulting in blockages

If you or someone you know is in need of a sewer lateral inspection, don't wait! Schedule your next inspection appointment by visiting https://bit.ly/3cyCjIB today!
