Life is not chasing a tiny fixer in California or New York just so you can say I live in “California” or “New York”. It’s choosing space, sunshine, and a life that actually fits—where your mind can become free and you won’t be stressed all the time. Life is laid back in Austin, Texas 🌇

If you’re doing everything “right” but still feel stuck—great career, smart with money, planning ahead—yet homeownership feels out of reach… you’re not crazy for wanting more. You’re just ready for quality over grind. 🧭

That’s why so many are packing up and heading to Austin. Here’s what they’re finding:
✅ More home for your money (yes, yards and new builds)
✅ No state income tax 💸
✅ Greenbelts, lakes, and endless trails for an outdoor lifestyle
✅ A booming tech + creative job market that’s still family-friendly 📈
✅ Communities with strong schools and room to breathe

Thinking about whether Austin could be the right move?

When friends fly in to see “Austin,” this is the exact street I take them to first… ✈️

Georgetown’s historic Square. 📍

They wanted us to feel “what Austin really is,” and this little downtown does it—red-brick storefronts, the courthouse, cafés ☕, live music 🎶, and that Hallmark-movie charm that makes you want to linger.

If you’re visiting Austin, put Georgetown Square + Historic Downtown on your list, even if it’s just a slow drive-through to soak it in.

And if you can time it right, come for:
• Red Poppy Festival (spring)
• Market Days (most months)
• Christmas Stroll + the Square lighting (December) 🎄

A really good job offer and more affordable homes almost convinced us to move to Houston but then we talked about it for days and after spending more time in H-town these 5 things were deal breakers for us:

✅ humidity
houston stays sticky (gulf moisture). austin’s inland — still hot in summer, but you get more dry breaks and cooler fall evenings.

✅ flood & storms
houston = hurricane exposure and real flood zones. austin sits higher in the hill country — think occasional hail/ice and cedar season instead.

✅ home cost & insurance
houston often buys more house for the price. austin skews higher, but wind/flood insurance in parts of houston can narrow the gap. it’s address-by-address.

✅ daily lifestyle
austin leans lakes, trails, hill country weekends, and a big tech/creative scene. houston brings world-class dining, museums, pro sports, and quick beach access.

✅ scale & commute
houston is huge (more freeways, longer average drives). austin is smaller but congested; plan ~25–35 minutes at rush hour — longer on ut game days. you’ll want a car in both.

comment “guide” and i’ll DM you my austin vs houston cheat sheet — neighborhood matches, budgets, schools, commute maps, and what day-to-day really feels like.
