There is nothing quite like a 4th of July sky lit up with fireworks, but a night of celebration isn't worth a trip to the ER or possibly even a fine.

As we get ready to celebrate Independence Day, it’s important to remember that amateur fireworks can lead to serious injuries and devastating property fires in the blink of an eye.

The use fireworks are completely prohibited within the city limits and anywhere within 5,000 feet outside of the city limit lines. This includes many surrounding neighborhoods and extraterritorial zones, so double-check your map before you light anything. The absolute safest (and cheapest) way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional, public display, such as the Sertoma event in San Gabriel Park!

🚨UPDATE: GRACIE THE GIRAFFE STILL MISSING IN REAL COUNTY 🚨

Despite viral posts circulating online suggesting otherwise, Cedar Hollow Ranch confirms Gracie the giraffe has NOT been found.

6 News KCEN TV spoke directly with the ranch manager who says Gracie escaped from the Real County ranch after arriving in May. She was last confirmed on a game camera west of Leakey.

Jones says Gracie likely wandered after discovering a new feeding area on rocky terrain, making her way over a hillside and coming down on the wrong side of the fence — and she’s been on the move ever since.

In recent days, social media has exploded with jokes and AI-generated “sightings” of Gracie supposedly working at various agencies and locations.

Search efforts are ongoing, with the ranch now using a helicopter to help cover more ground. Plans are also in place to reinforce fencing once Gracie is safely recovered.

A $5,000 reward is still being offered for information that leads to her safe return.

For now, Texas’ most unexpected runaway remains missing — and crews are asking the public to rely only on confirmed information from the ranch.

As you head out on the road this morning, take necessary precautions. A small amount of water on the roadways can lead to hydroplaning, so be vigilant. Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and do not rush, allow yourself extra time to reach your destination. Avoid low water crossings. If you encounter a flooded area, do not attempt to cross. Turn around, don’t drown. Stay safe!
