“My advisor helped me learn the ropes during my first semester.”
This idiom comes from sailing. New sailors had to be taught how to use the many ropes on a ship. Today, “learn the ropes” means learning something new. 🪢
The word literature can be tricky because it has four syllables. Try saying it slowly first, then a little faster. 🗣️
