Kids' Juneteenth: Let's Talk About Identity

Kids Ages 6-9, join Equity Kids for a special Juneteenth program where we will talk about identity and what it means to us. Our workshops feature fun and thought-provoking activities and discussions exploring different aspects of race for school-aged children and their families.
Children and their families will dive into the heart of Juneteenth and the inspiring story of Opal Lee. In this immersive learning hour, we will explore together how our unique heritages and cultural identities shape the holidays we celebrate. We’ll discover why Juneteenth is a massive milestone for every American and how the spirit of freedom connects us all.

Kids Ages 10-12 join Equity Kids for a special Juneteenth program where we will talk about justice, what it means, and how it relates to the Juneteenth holiday. Our workshops feature fun and thought-provoking activities and discussions exploring different aspects of race for school-aged children and their families.
Ignite your inner activist in this interactive hour of discussion and discovery designed for the next generation of leaders. Drawing on the brave story of Opal Lee, we’ll dive into the importance of being a voice for justice and freedom for everyone in our communities, and why Juneteenth is a joyous holiday for all Americans to celebrate. We’ll discuss what equality, equity, and liberation mean in our own communities, and how we can turn inspiration into action.
Equity Kids is working with the next generation to explore ways of rejecting racism to make racial injustice a thing of the past. We accomplish this by creating racially and culturally diverse learning communities where children build cross-racial friendships while exploring race and culture.

Join the conversation - Equity Kids is seeking part-time Facilitators to lead group workshops for children (ages 4 and up) and adults in Austin, TX and Santa Fe, NM.
What you’ll do:
✅ Co-lead groups & workshops - training and curriculum provided!
✅ Build supportive spaces to allow exploration of sensitive topics around race and culture
✅ Evaluate group progress and challenges with peers and guidance of program director
The Details: • Commitment: ~3-5 hours/week per group. • Requirements: 18+, background check, reliable transport, and at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Bilingual (Eng/Span) is a huge plus!
