Do you find yourself wondering HOW to build local community? Do you know the names of the people who live right next to you?
I like to start with soup. It’s not much but if you make a big pot there’s usually enough to share with your closest neighbors. Sometimes they even have free jars to go around.
It started with knocking on their doors, to getting their numbers to starting a group chat… you get the picture. Now we’re sharing gardening supplies and pulling each other’s trash cans up to the garage.
There’s a lot of little ways you can start to build community where you live. Sometimes all it takes is that 1 person reaching out to get it started. We’d love to hear what’s worked for you!

Halloween Story Time + Pumpkin Patch with Walnut Creek Elementary was a huge success!
We had a great time reading to 280 kinder-2nd graders from our neighborhood elementary school. The classes got to take a walking field trip where they were met with neighbors reading spooky stories and a pumpkin patch to pick out their very own pumpkin to take home.
Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who donated so that almost 300 kids could get their own free pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. And a huge thank you to our neighbors DJ, Lynda, Debbie, Ashley, Anne, Emily, Michelle, Pierre and Kam who read stories for the kids and helped everything run smoothly! 🎃🧡

Installed a Free Little Art Gallery over the weekend, that was made using materials and tools donated by neighbors in the Walnut Creek area 🫶
We made this because we believe that every neighborhood is full of talent, creativity, and unexpected treasures and we can’t wait to see what art comes out of our neighborhood!
