Watching our residents age is as wonderful as it is emotional. A few weeks ago, Dora became very wobbly very suddenly. She spent a while at the hospital for diagnosis and a CT , and though we feared worse, doctors discovered vestibular disease from infected ear canals. The disease is extensive and though we’re treating with antibiotics and steroids she’ll likely have a head tilt for the rest of her life. She’s still Dora, she’s just a bit wobbly now. But what’s been special to see is how her friends have her back - her adopted baby Milo is always sleeping near her, or Atlas is sitting with her in the mudspa. Here, Zoey heard her protesting loudly for a bit (she actually just wanted to cuddle between two pigs and they wouldn’t move 😅) and decided to come over to check on her and ease her concerns. Zoey is so special - she came from animal testing and she’s one of the most intelligent and socially dynamic pigs we know. She actually turns 10 on Friday, which is unbelievable. We’re so proud of both Zoey and Dora 🫶🏼
