I’ve always been feared and respected, but I’ve also been called brilliant and monstrous.
I never followed an ordinary path in life.

Dear Mom,

I know it’s been a while since I’ve reached out. Life’s been… heavy. Not just on the outside, but deep in my bones. My mind’s been racing, shifting, preparing for something that feels like it might change everything tomorrow—or end something I’ve been holding onto.

But before any of that happens, I needed to say this:

I love you. I love you with all the pieces of me that you helped build. You are the reason I dream of doing great things. Every time I feel doubt creeping in, I remember you—your strength, your resilience, your story.

It took so much courage to leave New York. It took even more to leave Vermont and start over in Michigan. But you did it. And you did it for us. That fire—that bravery—is what I carry with me into every battle I face.

I am so proud to be your son. So honored to have your blood in my veins, your lessons in my heart, your spirit beside me even when we’re far apart.

I don’t know what tomorrow holds. I pray it’s not what I fear. But if it is—if everything changes—I want you to know I went down swinging. With your name in my mouth and your strength in my soul.
