If you haven't noticed by now, sales pitches are dead 😵 and don't work like they used to...

As soon as someone smells anything salesy in the slightest:

THEY RUN 🏃 💨

Now there's a few alternatives for this but the number one alternative is going to be storytelling.

But, storytelling for your business can be an overwhelming task especially if you have no background in it.

So, how can you uncover the aspects of your brand that should be included in your story, and which ones shouldn't?

Well the wonderful thing about marketing nowadays is that authenticity wins the game 💯 % of the time.

So lucky for you, you don't need to spend a bunch of time crafting some story that's false and meant to manipulate people.

Because they will smell it 👃

AND RUN 🏃 💨

Instead, go straight to the source.

Interview some of your past clients and they will give you the story.

This is because your best past clients are essentially clones of your ideal future clients.

They were once in the same scenario, sharing the same thoughts, worries concerns, and goals.

So by getting a story from an old client, you're getting a story that resonates with a future client. 🤘

I recently did a shoot in a "clean room" which is a controlled environment designed to minimize airborne contaminants 😷

They were very strict and had me in quite the getup as you can see 🤣 I even had to put a bag over my camera with just the lens sticking out!

How can you tell a story that directly impacts your ideal customer?

Well in short, the story that you're telling needs to align with their personal story.

This can feel uneasy for people because they think they are being manipulative towards their customers.

But the truth is your business was formed to solve a specific problem for a specific person.

So the reality is your stories are already aligned, you just have to show them that truth.

Your Ideal customer is:

1. At a certain point in life.

2. With a specific goal in this chapter of their life.

3. And problems that are stopping them from achieving this goal, which you are the solution to.

All you're doing is reiterating their story to them showing that you understand their goal and you know how to get them there.

The difference between you and your competitors is you're going to express this fact to customers through storytelling which they directly understand, instead of sales pitches, which they recognize as hostile forces that they want to avoid.

The easiest way to create a story that aligns with your ideal customer's personal story is to create an ideal customer profile.

Give them a name, where they live, and an entire backstory.

You will use this information to give them a personal story and where they are in their story to arrive at the problem you solve.

Now all you have to do is write a story that aligns your business with this scenario.
