Dear Austin Boxer Rescue,

For those of you who have volunteered or been a part of Austin Boxer Rescue for some time now, you may remember, or perhaps even heard the story of our girl, Lovey. She was the sad girl who was left tied to a post outside of an animal shelter. Covered in fleas and ticks, her fur ravaged with mange, she barely even looked like a boxer.
That was over 12 years ago and Austin Boxer Rescue swiftly answered the call for help, scooped up this girl, showered her with love, and restored her spirit. Our family fell in love with her at an adoption event at a Petsmart in San Antonio in January of 2015. And for 11 years, our lives were blessed by her gentle presence.
We said goodbye to our sweet girl on June 4th. Lovey was the type of dog who loved deeply and quietly. The kind who stayed close, rested her head beside you, and somehow just managed to make our house a home. She went peacefully. Gently. Just like the sweet Boxer she had always been. We are thankful for almost a dozen years with Lovey: years filled with loyalty, her goofy antics, her quiet comfort during some turbulent times, and a love that never asked for anything in return. And we are thankful to The Austin Boxer Rescue for never giving up on these precious dogs.
