Peaceful and serene đŸ„° The girls’ playroom! READ ON! đŸ‘‰đŸ»Yes, this is a “fancy” playroom, but my girls wanted a princess room with “beautiful things.” We have never baby proofed our house (aside from outlets and stairs). We’ve always kept out the nice things. (And they’ve also lived in renovation messes!) They have learned to touch certain things, leave other things alone, and be respectful of our home. They’ve also grown to appreciate interiors because of this. Have things broken? Sure, but honestly I could barely count them on 1 hand over 9 years. And my girls play ROUGH. Don’t let their gender fool you. We have really focused on teaching them that our home isn’t a free for all zone for them. They have their spaces, but being respectful of our family home (where it doesn’t solely revolve around them) is important. This is OUR home, not just theirs and lessons of care, respect, group-work, and shared space are things we value. Where are the toys??? đŸ‘‰đŸ»The cabinet is filled with books and puzzles. The baskets with toys. To the left of this pic are a few freestanding toys: Barbie house, food truck, chalk easel. But in all reality, we don’t that have many toys. They have some in their rooms and what’s in here, but we encourage more outdoor and imaginative play! Less toys = less overwhelm for them and mess for me. Plus it equals more creativity and exploration for them! We’ve had the 100000s of toys and it was awful.đŸ˜©They got overwhelmed with choices and then bored. It was a constant struggle of tidiness and frustration. So we donated most and kept their faves. (This was surprisingly easy for them to do!) This playroom is meant for reading, puzzles, games, trains and dolls. The serenity of the design keeps them calm while they create imaginary worlds in their minds! If you swipe, you will see the before- it’s a giant room that we split into two: their playroom and our office. *Not trying to be a parenting site, only sharing what works for our family! But if you find yourself struggling over toys, don’t let false parent guilt attack you. Your kids really don’t need a lot. đŸ€ And remember, you’re a great parent!

Today is one of my favorite days of the year. I never know which date it will fall on, but today was it: 3/3/22! The first day it feels like Spring after the last cold front. I want to be outside, planting plants, seeing greenery, feeling the breeze! We did a lot of outdoor activities today and decided to add a few plants in our dining room to add to our courtyard dining feel! WELCOME SPRING!!! 💐
