Last year I picked up film photography, an incredibly expensive hobby to start months before getting laid off. I bought an old Canon AE-1, was gifted an Olympus, and blessed with being surrounded by the world’s most beautiful people and some insanely gorgeous views. Here are 20 of my favorite pictures, most of which are not even technically good. I just like them, and I remember exactly where I was for each shot. You don’t need to buy film or a great camera, but I do urge you to start taking more photos. They’re fun to look back on and (as cheesy as it sounds) the world feels like a prettier place through a lens.

Here’s one picture of my stupid face from each month of 2024. Beard got bushier, face got wider, smile seen more usual. My thanks (and apologies) to all the idiots tricked into taking my photo this year.
