Texas media and politicians claimed criticism of Uvalde cop Ruben Ruiz was misplaced and off-limits, because he attempted to move forward down the hallway to the room where his wife and many children were trapped inside. But he was "detained" and his gun "taken away" by other officers.
The leaked video, which the Uvalde Police Department tried to keep private, shows there was nothing stopping Ruben Ruiz from confronting the shooter, Officer Ruiz also attended Active Shooter Training.
