RTF SENIORS: This is a great opportunity if you're planning on graduate school!

NYU Media Diversity Scholarship // Deadline February 1, 2019

The NYU at Weber Shandwick: Masters in Residence program combines academic rigor and professional application to redefine media for the 21st century. It is designed to eliminate barriers to graduate education for historically underrepresented applicants, and is available for select NYU Steinhardt MA students in the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication.

Partnering with global communications agency Weber Shandwick, this program aims to cultivate emerging professionals primed to enter the media and communications sectors, prepare them to be versatile analysts of global media, facilitate their advancement to positions of leadership, and address the clear need for diverse voices in the media industry.

What The Program Offers
Funded tuition in the NYU MCC MA degree program (funding covers the 36 tuition credits required for graduation, plus annual registration fees).
Personalized academic mentoring from a designated NYU faculty member.
A part-time paid position during Fall and Spring semesters at Weber Shandwick.

Who Should Apply?
The program seeks curious, resourceful, and imaginative candidates who will be catalytic to the professional world around them.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds to apply for this program. Both Weber Shandwick and NYU are committed to fostering diversity, inclusivity, and equity throughout the media industry and academia, and we especially encourage candidates from historically underrepresented groups (race, gender, economic) to apply.

Application Process
All applicants to the Media, Culture, and Communication MA degree program are invited to apply. Up to 4 students will be selected for the scholarship each year. To be considered, prospective students will be prompted during the Steinhardt online application process to complete additional required materials.
Students engage directly with our full-time media studies faculty, whose research specialties include global media and culture, digital media and new technologies, visual culture, media history and theory, race and political communication. Current recipients of this scholarship are conducting research on such topics as The Relationship Between Machines and Humans in the Social Space and The Impact of Digital Media on Social Change.

If students have questions about this funding opportunity, please encourage them to email [email protected] directly for further information.
