Which markets are most over-valued and what does that mean? According to the Austin Business Journal, when comparing an average person's "buying power" (how much home $$$ they would qualify to purchase) compared to how much the typical home costs--in the top 10 cities you could be short by a factor of as little as 20%, or as much as 2x your current income. So, if you are in these cities and looking for a home to purchase, you may need to make a lot more money before buying a home is possible. Where does Austin fall in this list? Way down from these homes, with a 7% premium of home prices over income. My guess is that may not include many of the suburb's where Austin is growing by leaps and bounds now.
