I started this piece in May and left it alone all summer. Got back at it this week and never dreamed it would turn out this Lisa Frank-y, and I love it! Hope you like this smiley tiger too!

When we moved to Austin, my kids claimed this Totoro painting I made for a spot of honor in their bedroom. Now they are teens and they need wall space to be a bit more self expressive. They have finally released their hold on this Totoro painting and it can be yours! Hit me up for the details, low low price since it’s Mixed Marcie Vintage 😂

October always was my favorite month. The fresh air through the window, the crunch of leaves under my feet, and…. Wait, is that a pink ribbon on a package of hot dogs!? Ugh, the blatant use of the pink ribbon for sales grosses me out. However, as a breast cancer survivor, I would be remiss if I didn’t share at least part of my story with you and encourage you ALL to do self breast exams and ladies, get your mammograms yearly! I found a lump when I was 37 years old. It was sensitive to the touch and I went to see my doc who scheduled me for a stat mammogram, which turned into a sonogram and biopsy in the same week. My life was forever changed, but I have no regrets. Even discovering this lump by myself at age 37, I was still stage 2, meaning the cancer spread to my lymph nodes, requiring additional surgery and chemo. So, don’t wait. You know your body. When something is off, speak up! For all in active treatments and to all the thriving survivors out there, I see you and send so much love. Life does eventually find a normal pace again. And you are far stronger than you feel! Eventually, all the October pink starts to feel like pride again (see last pic for my pink October hair!).

The first few pieces are digital collages I made using images of cancer cells. Also sharing the moment my amazing cousin and bestie shaved my head once I started chemo.
