Eight years ago, I had the amazing opportunity to meet Conan O’Brien on a tour while I was deployed 🇺🇸
I have some incredibly found memories of people that made a huge impact on my life while deployed. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the deployment would completely change the trajectory of my life.
Yes, I changed physically, but it was the mental aspect that would forever have the greatest impact on me. I learned to stand up for myself and not “accept” the easy way. I learned while money can make life easier, it doesn’t necessarily make life happier.
I came home from that deployment and ended up facing one of the mentally toughest years of my life.
I would end a marriage to a man whose “hold” on me was toxic…. He was addicted to prescription meds, alcohol, and had an undiagnosed mental condition at the time that the medication and alcohol only exacerbated it.
(He freely talks about these things on his own website on how it ended in divorce)
I would come out as gay… and slowly start my own healing process and journey.

Took an evening walk the other day in East Austin and came across this home! I love all the texture and materials used on this home.
One of my favorite things about “The East Side” is that we aren’t a cookie cutter neighborhood. We are filled with diversity just like our amazing city!
