To combat a teacher shortage, a local school district in Texas has announced plans to change from the traditional five-day week to a four-day week for its upcoming school year. The Jasper Independent School District revealed the change on Facebook last month, saying that teacher burnout and shortages prompted the move.

The school district’s superintendent, John Seybold, told ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday that teacher burnout has long been a concern, but ‘it has seemed to expand, and it's becoming more and more of an issue’ since the pandemic began.

Other school districts in Texas, Oregon, Montana, Colorado, and Oklahoma have also switched to four-day weeks.
