Effective November 5th, Facebook is banning "Like Gates" for contests, sweepstakes and promotions. This won't affect those of you using Contest Ninja because we never integrated a Like Gate into CN. It was always our opinion and our analysis showed this too; that Like Gates did not result in a higher page engagement ... often times the like gate only boosted likes during the contest after which many people who liked the page for the sake of the contest/sweepstakes or promotion ... unliked the page after the contest/sweepstakes or promotion. And overall it was always far more effective to add people to your Notifier list with Contest Ninja so you could engage with those people over and over; rather than getting a page like via a Like Gate when FB shows your page posts to less than 20% of your page fans.

Anyway, the announcement from Facebook is here - https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2014/08/07/Graph-API-v2.1/ and the paragraph that spells out this change reads "You must not incentivize people to use social plugins or to like a Page. This includes offering rewards, or gating apps or app content based on whether or not a person has liked a Page. It remains acceptable to incentivize people to login to your app, checkin at a place or enter a promotion on your app’s Page. To ensure quality connections and help businesses reach the people who matter to them, we want people to like Pages because they want to connect and hear from the business, not because of artificial incentives. We believe this update will benefit people and advertisers alike."
