My student Aaron has been working really hard on Limelight by the band Rush. This song is no easy task.

I started Benjamin 14 years ago on classical guitar as a Suzuki student when he was just shy of 4 years old. In the last 4 years we toggled between classical guitar and popular styles on electric guitar and bass in a more exploratory format. He did an amazing job on this Al Di’Meola tune and I’m fortunate to have gotten a performance with a good audio mix and video documentation. It’s nice to have good music friends who are interested in helping you pull it off. Ben is miles ahead of where I was at his age. If he keeps it up he will be unstoppable. This was a good send off for his next stage, attending civil engineering school in Taiwan.

Ben and I went over to David Druxman’s house this evening to rehearse Midnight Tango. Tonight we were a power trio as John Ponzo is out till next week. It wasn’t bad as a trio. A little thin in places but it worked. Thanks Dave for putting the time into the drums on this one.
