Yesterday was the celebration of life of Doug Cugini, the owner of The Hole in the Wall till 1998 - the 90s were our heyday there.
Standing there watching some of my friends and faves from those days - The Leroi Brothers, Loose Diamonds, Beaver Nelson, Walter Tragert - moments of memories filling my mind - it was hard not to stop tears from welling up.
I was there when the tornado came through and w head to move away from the window
I was there when Don Henley showed up and sang Don Henley must die on stage with Mojo Nixon
I was there when that guy stole Miles’ from fastball’s guitar from stage and we ran out the door and someone caught him
If it weren’t for Beaver Nelson - Tony wouldn’t have moved here and Fastball wouldn’t exist and neither would my kids
Fastball then known as Magneto got on stage here the night of Tony’s and my wedding
This stage is where the A&R guy, invited by watched Fastball play, signed them and the rest is history
Many wild shenanigans happened here and a lot of incredible music.
It was so good to be there yesterday
