Body checking can be easy to miss because it often becomes part of a daily routine. Whether it’s repeatedly looking in mirrors, comparing your body to others, constantly weighing yourself, or using the fit of clothing to evaluate your worth, these behaviors can keep you stuck in a cycle of self-criticism and body dissatisfaction.

Awareness is the first step. If you notice yourself engaging in body checking, try responding with curiosity instead of judgment. What are you hoping to learn, control, or feel in that moment? Building a more compassionate relationship with your body starts by gently interrupting patterns that pull you away from the present.

Recovery isn't about monitoring your body more closely, it's about learning to trust yourself more deeply. 🫶

Mental health care should be accessible, affirming, and responsive to the diverse experiences that shape our lives. During National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, we recognize the barriers many BIPOC individuals and communities continue to face and the importance of creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and understood.

Reducing stigma, increasing representation, and expanding access to culturally responsive care are all part of supporting mental health equity. Every person deserves care that honors their identity, culture, and lived experience. 💚
