One of my first bands in Dallas in the late 90s was The Calways, named after my friend and mentor Brian Calway. Here we are at Trees Dallas opening for Old 97's and one of Matt Hillyer’s bands - either Lone Star Trio or Strap, I can’t remember which one. The song “This Damn Guitar” was a staple at many of our shows. It talks about following a girl back and forth on I-35. I think that highway has been fixed, torn down and redone so many times in my adult life. Perfect metaphor for a relationship! 😆
