Do you remember when pickleball exploded? It was talked about on the news...young and old alike were enjoying the game...it became America's fastest-growing sport during the pandemic?

Well, it became a popular item for cake orders as well. I have made a number of these over the last few years, but here is the very first pickleball cake I ever made. (Back in 2021 when I did not even know what a pickleball looked like. 😂) Cakes and cookies go well together and the client enjoyed this fun pickleball paddle sized chocolate creation along with a set of lemon butter cookie pickleballs. 🎾

Sometimes it's not about the decorations (though I do think we eat with our eyes first) but about the flavor, the memory, and what food connects us to our happy moments.

Had a client once tell me that their wife loved a cake they got in their home country, but he did not know what it was called in English and they had not had it since coming to the US many many years ago. So I had him to describe it to me and I started researching. Now, I could not source the exact ingredients that were probably used in his home country, (even butter is different from region to region) but I did end up being able to create a cake for him to surprise his wife with. He told me later that it tasted just like she remembered and made her sooo happy. I love stories like that.

One thing about being a home-baker is that I'm not stuck with a set list of items that I can bake and sell. I love to try new recipes and flavors.
