Well we’re home from another comp. The first annual Meramec community fair bbq cook off was a huge hit!! Getting to watch Sara Evans last night was definitely the biggest highlight of the weekend for us!! I guess that kinda gives away the bbq results but it’s what it is. After expecting heavy downpours all weekend it didn’t end up to bad just a little sprinkle here and there and some super moist grounds. But the smokers ran amazing and had a really really really smooth cook which usually spells disaster at awards for me. At the end of the day we heard our names 5 times which is all we can do and that usually gives us a hell of a shot at coming home in one of the top two spots. Came up just short this time but all in all a decent day!!

Finally made it home after driving 6 hours through the pouring rain today! Thanks again to Jordan Williams for letting us crash at his place for the night!!! Really appreciate the awesome hospitality!!!!! Man, while Iowas scores didn’t impress me much the people sure did. We were treated like family as soon as we got there and didn’t feel like outsiders at all. Got treated to the world famous Wags biscuits and gravy and hot daddy’s banana bars!!! Karsyn had a blast cooking kids q Friday night and got 2nd place and made some great new friends!! Thanks to Heather for taking her to watch the parade Saturday while we cooked!!!so grateful for how she’s treated by everyone when she’s out with me at comps!! Makes us both feel really good!
Onto dads cook Saturday as you know this was our first time in Iowa and really didn’t know what to expect but low scores lol. And we got just that. But I woulda turned those 4 boxes in again anywhere I go. At the end of the day we finaly got to hear our name

Well… the Iowa experiment wasn’t a complete failure. 2nd place brisket and snuck in at 10th place overall!!!! Not to shabby for a first timer in Iowa. Crashing in Iowa for the night. Bbq Pit Bros sleepover!!! 😂😂 long drive in the morning!!! Update later!!
