Avon Senior Center Volunteer Wins Silver at Special Olympics CT!

Jodi Selinger volunteers at the Avon Senior Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our Congregate Meal program with her friend, Dayna. Jodi competed in Special Olympics CT and placed 2nd in Bocce! Love your Silver Medal. Congratulations Jodi, we are so proud of you and your accomplishments! Thanks for being an awesome volunteer too! Woo! Hoo!!

Dementia 101

Did you know there are over 80 kinds of dementia? This presentation will define dementia, explain why it is not part of normal aging, identify the warning signs, share communication techniques, and describe the most common forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s. Presented by Amina Weiland, CDP, CDCP, certified dementia practitioner and resource coordinator for Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging.

People living with dementia, caregivers, and anyone who wants to learn more about dementia are encouraged to attend.
