Well look at you! You thought that just listening to the audio books was enough to get the entire story of Dungeon Crawler Carl. How does it feel to be so very, very wrong.

All you wanted to do was read (by which I mean listen to) a story about aliens forcing a guy in boxers, with the most perfect feet you've ever seen, into a dungeon with his ex-girlfriends magical talking cat when BOOM! corporate greed punches you in the face.

Whoopie, Penguin Random House Publishing brought the book series to the masses by publishing an unheard-of amount of hard copies. Sure, now guys with curly moustaches full of Peruvian beeswax and girls with a larger black lipstick collection that Marilyn Manson can't brag that "Oh, you had to listen to DCC? I've got the original self-published edition!" That's great, but now you're to book 8 and some dude in your ear is going on about something called "The Pineapple Cabaret" and you have no clue what he's talking about.

Meanwhile, all your friends that own hard copies of the books, the books YOU introduced them to, are excitedly chittering about all the cool easter eggs in the new book, while you watch from the corner... alone, a little sad, and very confused. Maybe that'll teach you to share.

So go ahead, drop $20-$30 a book to read 20 pages and catch up. Tell yourself you're "supporting the author" who only gets pennies per book, or use that lump of grey matter between your ears to give those corporate jerks a giant middle finger.

Pop into the saferoom that looks suspiciously like 8-Bit Aleworks, grab a beer, and tell the awkward Bopca behind the bar to grab you a hard copy of books 1-7 to read while you're there.

Reward: You want a reward for listening to a book and telling everyone you "read" it? Next time grab a hard copy and don't lie to your friends!

Happy Cinco de Mayo and Happy Birthday to Ryan and Josh!

Come celebrate with both of them for Cinco de 8-Bit and 3 aguas frescas inspired beers.

This year we've got Jamaica Mage ( White Mage with Hibiscus), White Mage w/ Strawberry & Pineapple, and Hopsassin's Creed w/ Cucumber and Serrano peppers. Ryan spent the time deseeding/deveining the serranos so that they're all flavor with very little heat.

Ryan's mom also made mini cupcakes based on each beer for everyone to share.

Ryan's been hard at work in the back getting a few beers ready for Cinco de 8-Bit along with a special surprise for the summer.

Yesterday, for the first time ever he maxed out the brew kettle in order to make both Arroz of Icarus AND Rice Climbers in the same day. If you see him hobbling around the tasting room tonight now you know why!

Today's Flagship Friday beer is Hopsassin's Creed.
