About me:
I have been an amateur meteorologist for decades. My intense interest in weather derives from my dad--Ralph Smole,SR who was a meteorologist in the Air Force during WWII. I wrote a computer program for our high school science fair back in 1976 that won 1st place. Back in the early 90s I was a weather-watcher for KXAS-TV right after Harold Taft passed away. I got to work with David Finfrock,and Scott Chesner. I am also a certified NWS Skywarn spotter. I grew up in Wisconsin and Illinois and dealt with massive snowstorms before moving here to Texas in 1984. Used to take our kids chasing with me when they were very young. I believe this instilled in them a healthy respect for weather,instead of fear.
