Our Story

The dream of the owners was to someday have a business of their own. That dream became a reality in Ballinger, Texas. The move from Vero Beach, Florida and the naming of the company was done with many prayers to God. The company name, “Buddy’s Plant Plus,” was chosen after Jim Studer’s guardian angel, whom he calls “Buddy.”

Buddy’s Plant Plus Corporation started business in Ballinger on November 16, 1988. The company was started for the manufacturing of water-soluble fertilizer for Stern’s Miracle Gro Company, the #1 leader in water-soluble fertilizer in the United States. Later, we added granular fertilizer, insecticide, and herbicide producuts.

In 1955 Stern’s Miracle Gro merged with The Scotts Company, which is one the largest manufacturers in the world. We continue to maufacture various products for Scotts and other customers.
