As I venture through my almond croissant tour through the Baltimore metro area, here is another strong contender. You step inside Garden & Grounds Bistro and it is truly beautiful.
Tucked on the Falls Road Corridor close to Lake Roland Park, I feel like this spot gets overlooked. And it absolutely shouldn’t. The kind of spot in the Baltimore suburbs locals have known about for years and visitors always wish someone had told them sooner.
If you are considering a move to the Baltimore suburbs or relocating to Baltimore County, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes the decision easy.
The more suburban outskirts of Baltimore City is full of them. From Lake Falls Village to Green Spring Station, out into Stevenson and across the greater Worthington Valley area. The best local restaurants and spots in the Baltimore area are the ones you only find when someone who actually lives here shows you around.

This is one of the most common questions I get from buyers moving to north Baltimore County. And the honest answer is, they all sound the same on paper. It’s not until you’re actually here that the differences show up.
Ruxton feels like English countryside but with easy city access.
Phoenix feels like a neighborhood straight from the 90s without being too far from a Wegmans.
Monkton feels like historic farmland.
Reisterstown feels like a mashup of suburban and rural.
Lutherville-Timonium feels like a tight knit community with everything you could ever need within a 5 min or less drive.
Same county. Same general price range. Completely different day-to-day lives.
If you’re relocating to north Baltimore County or the greater Baltimore area, the move is about a lot more than the house. It’s about where you’ll get your coffee. Where you’ll walk on a Saturday morning. Which downtown you’ll drive into when you want to feel like you got out of the house.
