With the recent assault of Iyanna Dior, I am reminded how certain Black lives don’t matter when they don’t fit into the notion of what Black life represents for others. The fact that Black trans women accounted for 91% of murdered trans women in 2019 is telling. The lgbtq hatred within the Black community is real and will stop. To be as strong as these women are to walk in their truth while facing ofttimes insurmountable obstacles proves straight ignorance is no match for fierce spirit. To my Black brothers and sisters that need to, educate yourself and love your fellow Black folk equally. We must not undermine the sentiment we cry in the face of non Black oppression. y’all.
