Members of the RMF Boston team Christian Ortolani, PE, Mark McManus, Sean Donohue, and Jason Zhou are currently conducting a mechanical and electrical existing conditions assessment of five fire stations in Lowell, MA. Almost all the stations date from the late 1800’s and are brimming with nearly a century and a half of firefighting history. This work is part of a larger effort with architects from Gale Associates, Inc. to help the Lowell Fire Department identify areas for improvement and assist them in allocating their available renovation funding as effectively as possible.
Pictured, is a brain-bending view up the old hose tower in one of the stations, where one can still picture the original station’s firemen hanging their riveted-leather hoses to dry after answering a call at one of the city’s many textile mills. These existing conditions assessments can involve running down every last circuit from source to load, sometimes leading into some very unexpected but interesting places.

This weekend, the Baltimore Orioles take on the San Francisco Giants as the fan experience continues to be elevated through ongoing improvements to Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
The Maryland Stadium Authority and the Baltimore Orioles are collaborating on game-changing upgrades to ensure the ballpark remains a best-in-class facility for safety, amenities, and overall guest atmosphere.
RMF is providing comprehensive MEP and building enclosure commissioning services behind the scenes as part of this multi-phase project supporting the long-term functionality and maintainability of this iconic venue.
Improvements include upgrades to the club level, press facilities, suites, and control room, along with replacement of the main and auxiliary scoreboards, AV systems, IT network, and building automation infrastructure.
