Ralton “Robin” Tennant — November 27, 1968 – June 3, 2026. On Friday, July 10th, we celebrated the life of my oldest brother, Rob. He was fifteen years my elder and the last of the three older siblings I was raised with, to pass on. It’s been a bittersweet send-off. Rob’s last days were marked by the most suffering I’ve witnessed up close.
Getting to reflect on his life helped to clear some of the overwhelm that arose while trying to support his final stretch. Reflecting on his role in raising me and in supporting the generation of now young adults in my family reminds me how my life benefited from his presence. How our lives get touched by family in ways big and small.
We wrestle with loss for the rest of our lives. I’m seeking out the lessons. The ones through his modeling. The ones that are my doing, illuminated through the lens of our overlapping qualities and actions. The lessons that joy created, and the ones that fear, shame, sadness, and anger aid us in avoiding.
My big brother. He was the quiet one. The observant one. The one shared important stories. The one who cooked so everyone else could eat, who gave what he had, who showed up. His work was his pride. His family came together to tell his story and to bring him home.
Proudly sharing snapshots from his life. From Kingston, to Brooklyn, to Cali, to Hawaii, to a peaceful rest in eternity. Rest easy, Rob.

I’ve been pretty quiet this year. Forced to orchestrate a pivot while executing my present reality... I had to bring my attention inward. Can you relate?
I found my attention getting pulled into job applications, resume updates, alerts... into family issues that seem to never stop calling for my attention… into high-energy-output pursuits with long odds of solving my underlying problems.
Ultimately, I realized that the method I teach was designed to focus me towards awareness of wasted effort, towards communities that have and continue to support me, and ultimately towards a vision that starts hard but snowballs in the exact direction I imagined.
My momentum has shifted, and with that, renewed belief and excitement in the method that’s guided me the last 5 years.
That’s where you come in... I’ve decided to invest direct mentorship into helping others adopt the Five Phases of Empathy™. I’ve launched my inaugural coaching cohort. Three spots, and two remain.
I invite you to read a bit about how I’ve lived this process over the last decade, and if you feel moved. Grab some time with me to explore joining this limited group.
I needed to wait until I could share this gift without attachment. The abundant way. Now is that time. I can’t wait to pour into the growth and evolution of my community.
had the privilege of being a guest on the Show. It felt amazing in the moment, and even better to watch on the playback.
And today, I had the privilege of reading the live comments…
“I Love this Idea!!!”
“ima get these cards!”
“I like this have. Because you HAVE to give the why to see and learn perspective. See where peoples minds are or learn something. 👏🏾”
“wonderful game”
“ The question is deep, but some folks stay surface as hell.”
“sounds good to me I would luv to play that game curious 🖤”
A few things are important about this moment!
1) Roland Martin is a thought leader in the Black community that I’ve followed and respected.
2) It’s rare that I get real time feedback on Actually Curious, and in particular from the Black community.
3) I felt a right mix of looseness and expertise, nuancing my brand for the venue and audience. A new feeling that fills me with pride.
My goal was to be prepared, read the room, and communicate that Actually Curious gives you, as the host, the power to curate a fun time and deliver empathy skills in the process. Let me know how I did in the comments!
Thank you to , , , for this phenomenal opportunity to amplify Actually Curious, , and the movement to spread empathy!
